Design brief
We were appointed to design and supply the lighting as part of the building’s full refurbishment. The design brief included transforming the previously basic entrance into a striking, welcoming reception space, creating a strong first impression for visitors. This was achieved through the incorporation of statement neon signage to the reception desk, complemented by recessed linear luminaires integrated within the black ceiling to deliver a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Robertson Engineering Services provided an initial project brief and indicative layouts which were further developed between Robertsons and Park. We produced a full lighting design, including comprehensive lighting calculations, to ensure the proposed solution achieved the required performance while enhancing the overall aesthetic of the space.
Suppliers
Working closely with Lightforms and IBL Lighting, we specified and supplied bespoke luminaires manufactured in custom lengths to suit the architectural design of the space. The feature linear lighting incorporated integrated Casambi wireless controls providing the client with the flexibility to create and adjust lighting scenes to suit different activities and requirements.
In addition to the linear lighting, we supplied the specified decorative pendant luminaires to the breakout spaces, adding visual interest while creating a warm and inviting environment that complements the overall interior design.
Controls
As part of the refurbishment, we upgraded the lighting control system throughout the building to provide a modern, energy-efficient solution. Casambi wireless controls were specified for the feature lighting within the reception, enabling flexible scene setting and simple wireless control.
Across the wider building, we supplied Ex-Or detectors to integrate with the existing Ex-Or lighting control system, extending the lighting controls throughout the gym and circulation areas. This created a seamless control strategy that improved energy efficiency while providing the client with greater flexibility, enhanced user comfort, and simplified day-to-day operation across the building.
